Grenache Lovers Unite – For The First Annual International Grenache Day, A.K.A. G-Day!!
A global movement is afoot to put Grenache, the most widely planted yet little known red grape, in its rightful place among the stars of the wine world, and we hope you will join us!
Many people love grenache-based wines, but others simply don't know them and/or don't realise that Grenache is very versatile and often accountable for the velvety texture and voluptuous taste of the wines that they enjoy. It is present in many blends but rarely gets proper credit om the label... As a result, fantastic old Grenache vines are being uprooted in favor of more generic, familiar varietals. Grenache-- the unsung hero of the wine world! Let's right this wrong and change that together!
On September 24th, 2010, there's a grass-roots movement coming together around the world to set up events, big and small, celebrating the Great Grenache Grape. Weʼre asking all of our friends/Grenache fans to approach your neighbourhood restaurant and/or favourite wine retailer (or use your own business, if applicable) to feature a special Grenache centred activity. Maybe a sales promotion, a wine-tasting, or a special restaurant dish/menu designed for Grenache pairings… or simply invite friends over to open some great bottles! Anything goes, for the greater good of Grenache ! This cause is both serious and fun...
